Sarah is promoted to Senior PR Consultant

SARAH Johnstone from Bridgwater has this month (July, 2010) been promoted to the position of Senior PR Consultant at an award-winning Somerset public relations firm.

Sarah, who joined Porcupine PR in Bridgwater as a Trainee PR Consultant in 2008, will now be involved with the management of the business.

Porcupine PR Managing Director, Rachel Burks said: “Sarah is a committed and highly valued member of the team at Porcupine PR.

“She has been instrumental in the company’s recent development and is a motivated and competent PR consultant.

“Porcupine PR has many new exciting projects scheduled for the coming months and Sarah will be integral to these. Her promotion to Senior PR Consultant ahead of schedule is a testament to the dedication she shows to the business. I would like to congratulate Sarah on her achievements.”

The 25-year-old is responsible for the accounts of some of the company’s key clients, including nationwide tyre and vehicle repair specialists, Protyre, the Craft Centre at Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre and leading Bridgwater recruitment specialist, Hero Recruitment.

Prior to her role at Porcupine PR, Sarah studied for A levels at Bridgwater College and is a former pupil at Haygrove School, also in Bridgwater. In 2007 she graduated with a 2.1 Batchelor of Arts (BA) qualification in Film Studies from University College Falmouth.

Following graduation, and before joining the public relations firm, Sarah worked at Marks and Spencer in Taunton.

Sarah said: “I am delighted with my promotion to Senior PR Consultant at Porcupine PR.

“I now feel I have an invaluable insight into how successful public relations campaigns and activities are run. I look forward to my new role and the additional responsibilities it brings.”

In her spare time, Sarah enjoys socialising with friends and family, watching rugby and listening to music. She is also passionate about film and has produced two short films as part of her University degree.

Porcupine PR celebrates its 16th anniversary this year. It was launched in 1994 by former Guardian Media journalist Rachel Burks. The company specialises in retail clients and has in the past helped large national companies, such as the supermarket chain Tesco, with their PR projects.

The company’s key regional clients include Sanders GardenWorld in Brent Knoll, Somerset, and online retailer www.BritishCornerShop.co.uk and confectionery brand, British Butler, which are both Bristol based.

Nationally and internationally, Porcupine PR also represents Olympic and Commonwealth diver, Peter Waterfield, Gardman, the UK’s leading provider of gardening and wild bird care products, and Greenfingers, a national charity that creates magical gardens at children’s hospices.

Rachel added: “While lots of other PR companies regionally and nationally might be experiencing a downturn in business due to the economic situation, we’re actually having one of our best years ever.

“We’re now looking for four new graduate Trainee PR Consultants to help us expand the business further. Details of the role and an application form can be found on our website by visiting www.porcupinepr.co.uk.”
