Ian promoted to Graduate PR Consultant

IAN HEWSON from Taunton has been promoted to Graduate PR Consultant for the award-winning Bridgwater-based public relations company Porcupine PR Ltd.

The 22-year-old will continue to help with promoting the company’s key regional clients including Ascott Smallholding Suppliers in Wiltshire and Monkton Elm Garden & Pet Centre near Taunton.

Porcupine PR Managing Director, Rachel Burks, said: “Ian joined us in 2010 as a Graduate Trainee and has worked hard to achieve his new position. He is an integral part of the Porcupine PR team and has a leading role in our social media division. We look forward to working with him on lots of exciting new projects in the future.”

Ian, who comes from Bridgwater originally, graduated from Keele University in 2010 with a degree in Psychology and Education Studies.

Before attending university, Ian studied for A Levels at Richard Huish College in Taunton.

In his spare time, Ian enjoys playing cricket. He has a Level 1 Coaching Qualification in the sport. He is also a film buff and enjoys writing movie reviews. 

Ian added: “I am thrilled with my new position at Porcupine PR. I have gained lots of new skills and knowledge since joining the company and I’m keen to gain more experience and to continue with my development.”

Porcupine PR is currently celebrating its 17th anniversary this year (2011). It was launched in 1994 by Rachel, who is a former Guardian Media Group journalist. The company specialises in retail clients and has in the past helped large national companies, such as the supermarket chain Tesco, with their PR projects.

In the South West, Porcupine PR’s clients include Cossey Produce in Bridgwater and Diciamo in Bristol.

On a regional basis the agency works for the tyre and vehicle repair specialists, Protyre and nationally and internationally, the company also represents the training firm, Adaptis.
