Position: Managing Director
History: Rachel, a former Guardian Media Group Senior Journalist, founded Porcupine PR in 1994. She has more than 20 years’ experience as an NCTJ, fully-trained, professional journalist as well as working for, and with, regional and national newspapers, magazines, radio and news-based websites. As a result of Rachel’s background and experience, the Porcupine PR team bases its methods of communication on the principles of good journalism. Her first job after leaving journalism was with the Corporate Affairs team at Tesco. She worked with the supermarket giant for four years, based in Manchester, assisting the London team with store development and associated local/regional and national PR.
Favourite joke: Why have elephants got big ears? Because Noddy wouldn’t pay the ransom!
My ‘Famous Five’ dinner guests would be…Bill Gates, Carl Bernstein, Geoff Hamilton, Edward Bernays known as the ‘father of public relations’ and Oscar Wilde.
Name: Andy Doran
Position: Director
History: Andy has worked for many multi-national and national companies and has nearly 30 years’ experience in the world of corporate communications. Before joining Porcupine PR in 2004, his most recent directorial role was as Managing Director with The Regency Group. He was involved with creating and developing the business and managing a team of more than 250 people. He has also worked for several large multi-national companies in managerial roles and for regional newspapers on the commercial side.
Favourite joke: I went to a garden centre yesterday and thought I saw Michael J Fox, but it was hard to tell as he had his back to the fuchsias.
