You can increase your productivity, increase your work enjoyment and generally feel better about yourself if you have a calm office environment.
Here are our top tips for how to achieve a pleasant and calming workspace:
Take regular breaks from your PC screen. Staying at the screen all day can produce eye-strain and this can trigger headaches and tiredness. Look away from the screen regularly into the distance, for example by looking out of the window.
Keep your desk and desk drawers tiny – clutter can drain your energy. Also if you need a bit of space to de-stress yourself, a tidy up and de-clutter can do wonders.
Take some time out and have a good stretch – use somewhere quiet like a spare office or staff room.
To help you wind down at lunch time and during breaks or at the end of the day once you stop work, open emails from friends and check social media as a good laugh and offer the opportunity for a five minute wind down.
Speak to your boss about creating a system where if someone is feeling particularly stressed then they can explain they need some time out and can be excused from answering the telephone and aren’t interrupted for 30 minutes so they can get ahead.
