We’re assisting one of Bridgwater’s newest and leading restaurants with its PR activity this year (2018).
We’re helping raise awareness of The River Parrett Restaurant, which opened in November 2017 and offers a modern British brasserie feel, offering informal, high-end food with the focus on providing a quality customer experience.
Our MD, Rachel said: “We worked with the talented team for the launch of the restaurant and are now working to further enhance its reputation and to make sure everyone in the area, and people further afield, know what it has to offer whether via food photography, general social media activity or press coverage.”
Owner of the Salmon Parade business, Mariusz Muskietorz, who also owns the Maja Delicatessen in Bridgwater, said: “Porcupine PR has an excellent proven track record in our industry and always comes highly recommended by other clients, so we’re really looking forward to all we can do together in 2018. Exciting times ahead!”
The restaurant offers a seasonal menu using fresh, British produce. It provides a choice of lunchtime and evening dishes. All its food is freshly prepared on the premises and its ingredients are sourced locally.

A PORTISHEAD restaurant has this month (February, 2018) launched a new menu designed to help combat food wastage.
Venga tapas bar and restaurant on the High Street is reducing the ingredients thrown away from its kitchen on a daily basis by introducing a strictly no waste policy.
Manager, Scott Pearce explained: “One of the hottest topics around at the moment is food waste and it’s fast becoming an important issue for our customers wishing to be more environmentally savvy, and to do something to help.
“So, here at Venga this year we’re doing our bit too and our new menu focuses on fresh produce, as always, but also shows a respect for the ingredients through our ‘no waste from the kitchen’ initiative, which means we use every part of each product and reduce the waste from our premises significantly.
“The menu has an emphasis on fresh and healthy exciting dishes such as cauliflower couscous with almonds, pine nuts and pomegranate and squid ink paella.
At the same time, we’re also launching a new cocktail menu.”
According to WRAP, the waste and recycling advisory body, each year in the UK about 10 million tonnes of food is thrown away.
The United Nations says the amount of food lost or wasted every year worldwide is equivalent to more than half of the earth’s annual cereals crop.
Roughly a third of all food produced, according to the UN, is wasted. However, hundreds of millions of people still suffer from severe hunger and malnutrition.
Scott added: “These stark realities form the bigger picture, but, for restaurants like ours, there are lots of small but highly effective ways to embrace waste management and sustainability.
“The main thrust of our policy is to know our customers. Our menu is designed to attract an audience with an educated palate who value provenance. Preparation excess is, where appropriate, composted or recycled into bases for sauces and stocks and for staff meals.”
The Venga restaurant and tapas bar opened in 2013 under the ownership of husband and wife team, Chris and Mike Yeatman, drawing on many Mediterranean influences for the menu including dishes from Barcelona, Madrid and Granada.

We’re delighted to announce that we’ve recently started working with another new client: Golden Bay Holiday Village, which is in the heart of Westward Ho! on the breath-taking North Devon coastline.
This exclusive community of luxury holiday homes, beach cottages and surf lodges is fronted by a two-mile sandy beach and has stunning panoramic coastal views across Bideford Bay to Lundy Island.
Chris Hall, co-owner of the family-run village, said: “We’re really pleased to be working with Porcupine and are very much looking forward to benefiting from the team’s experience and expertise in the future.
“Golden Bay is first and foremost a beautiful holiday village and it commands one of the most picturesque sea front positions imaginable. Those that come here have a passion for the area and a love for the scenery, which is paramount.”
Golden Bay offers a variety of self-catering holiday homes to suit every budget, from standard accommodation to luxury two-storey homes looking out to sea and provides the perfect base for a short break or family holiday.
Visitors to the village can also enjoy direct access to a Blue Flag beach and are close to the South West Coastal Path, historic places of interest and to various wildlife and birdwatching spots.
The village’s shops and eateries are a short stroll away and Golden Bay, which is pet-free, is centrally located for many north Devon family attractions and places of interest.
Our MD, Rachel said: “Golden Bay Holiday Village is a wonderful place with views across the sea that are divine. The team is dedicated to providing the very best in customer service and this really stands out. We’re very excited about working together.”
Golden Bay also sells properties to individuals and operates a ‘buy-to-let’ scheme.
Chris continued: “We provide the perfect hideaway for those wanting a quiet second home or a holiday bolthole and, unlike other similar sites, we offer some properties for a 12-month season, enabling owners to use their holiday home whenever they wish.”
Buy-to-let purchasers can also enjoy a return on their properties and owners can have regular holidays on site too.
Golden Bay’s new development, Lighthouse View, has been built specifically for the holiday buy-to-let market and all-year-round use. Each of the spacious, modern properties has three bedrooms and offers a 999-year lease.
Chris added: “We offer a second to none letting service, both for our own properties and for those owners who wish to let their holiday homes with as little input as possible, so laundry and cleaning are all taken care of, along with advertising, bookings, pre-heating the properties and generally making sure that every stay with us represents the best experience possible.”

A NEW recruitment agency specialising in the hospitality industry and using the latest in hi-tech equipment to match-up employers and employees has officially launched its headquarters in Weston-super-Mare this week (February 5, 2018).
AAA Recruitment has opened offices at Oldmixon Crescent and will be using its new premises to provide assistance to restaurants, hotels and tourist-based businesses nationwide via the latest technology.
Managing Director, Andrew Tregenza, who has more than 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry, explained: “We are introducing innovative methods of matching employers and employees, so that both parties fully understand the commitment to the role. We’re fairly unusual, as we aim to match people’s personalities, as well as skill sets. We also ensure that the candidates understand what is expected in the role and that the position provides all the tick boxes for their individual career development.
“As a result, we provide a very personal and straightforward approach, as we understand time is precious and valuable to our clients. We aim to take pressure away and to fill each vacancy personally. We also realise it is important to keep clients up to date and give them a straightforward approach to recruitment and we use technology to help us do this.
“In order to meet the demands of the modern jobseeker, we offer FaceTime or Skype interviews to candidates. Busy people wanting a career change can e-meet us via FaceTime or similar applications and find out about the roles we have to offer. The same applies to those wishing to fill vacancies, we’re using technology like this to help save time, money and the world’s invaluable resources.”
All of the directors and employees at AAA come from a hospitality background and understand the pressures of working in that environment. Andrew believes that employing a new member of staff requires a relationship building approach.
“Bringing in technology doesn’t make our method impersonal, it in fact enhances it and gives us an added dimension. I’ve worked in human resources and recruitment all my working life and have been employed by many top hotel chains nationally including Kew Green Hotels, Four Pillars Hotels and Corus Hotels. I also worked on recruiting some of the staff for the 2012 Olympics.
“We decided to select Weston-super-Mare for our headquarters as it’s an iconic tourist-industry-orientated town and has many fast-growing and strong hospitality companies at its backbone.
“We love it here and are committed to employing local people within the business and helping others in the area find employment. Weston-super-Mare is growing fast and people are looking for the services we provide and the contacts we have when it comes to head hunting and matching employers and employees.
“We’re keen to provide a service to any local business looking for hospitality staff but we’re not just centred on this part of the world and the Westcountry. We have vacancies all over the country currently including Anglesey in Wales and across to Tunbridge Wells in Kent in the South East as well as further afield.”
The team at AAA Recruitment has a wealth of experience and knowledge in restaurants, hotels and leisure parks and specialises in capturing the very best talent through advertising, networking and head hunting.
