WELLINGTON folk are this month (October, 2016) being asked to nominate a person from the community to help switch on the Christmas lights at a shop in the town in November.
The Emporium Somerset is looking for nominations of people who are community heroes to help it and special guest Taunton Deane MP Rebecca Pow officially turn on the shop’s Christmas lights on November 3 from 6pm.
Cato Cooper, Co-owner of The Emporium Somerset, which includes nearly 50 shops and thousands of stylish homeware and gift items, said: “We’ll be getting into the festive spirit and hosting an official light switching on ceremony at the shop, so we’re looking for a very special person to help out.
“We are looking for nominations for someone who does a lot for charity, who has overcome an illness or personal difficulty, who has inspired others or who works in a caring role. We would like to invite them along to the event and have them assist Rebecca with the official switching on and we will present them with a gorgeous flower wreath, kindly donated by our trader The Flower Tree.”
The Emporium Somerset will be decked out in festive decorations for the evening and trader’s units will be personally decorated too.
During the event, there will be mulled wine or cider and mince pies for attendees in return for a donation to S.U.R.E, which is The Emporium Somerset’s charity of the year.
Cato added: “People can make their nominations via email to VIP@theemporiumsomerset.co.uk and should give details of who they wish to nominate and why.
“All emails must include clear contact details of the nominators with their address and telephone number. The winner will be picked at random and by being the nominator or nominee they have agreed to take part in publicity.”
The closing date for nominations is October 21.
