WELLINGTON shoppers celebrated the grand unveiling of an expanded gifts and homewares section at a shop in the town yesterday (Wednesday, March 1, 2017).
Crump & Co moved to ‘the stage’ within The Emporium Somerset on Mantle Street and declared its new unit officially open with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
Susie Collis from Crump & Co said: “We’re absolutely thrilled to have moved to a much larger area within the shop and expanded our already successful range. It was great to see lots of people join us for the very special occasion.
“Attendees were able to try free samples of Nom Nom chocolate as well as our marshmallow toasting kits. They were also able to sip on free tea and coffee and celebrate with a glass of fizz too. We cut a ribbon to declare the unit officially open and everyone in attendance was able to see the fantastic range of gifts and homeware available.
“I was also on-hand to chat to anyone about the products and give them more information about them on the day.”
Prior to Crump & Co Susie worked for an internet-based fashion company and was involved with the design and development of its clothing ranges.
After embarking on a gap year in 2015 she decided to set up her own business using her knowledge, contacts and skills in order to have a better work/life balance.
She created Crump & Co, which is a gift and homeware store and launched within The Emporium Somerset initially in 2016. The products stocked are made in the UK and/or are Fairtrade.
In her spare time, Susie enjoys spending time with family and friends as well as cooking. She also runs the village of Long Load’s book group.
The Emporium Somerset houses a large collection of individual traders selling mostly hand-crafted and Fair Trade products.
Co-owner, Cato Cooper, has her own painted furniture and home accessories studio and workshop at the front of the Emporium, as well as running the whole store, which 50 shops and thousands of homeware and gift items, many made nearby.
Cato said: “We’d like to say a huge ‘thank you’ to everyone who came along and helped celebrate the launch of the new Crump & Co unit. Susie works extremely hard to ensure that there is a fantastic range of gifts and homeware available to shoppers and we couldn’t be happier to see her company expand.”
